U6 with USB2.0/Firewire A Interface (PATA Tray)
The U6 Combo model is an external enclosure which houses the hard drive in a removable bay. A removable bay allows hard disks, housed in a caddy, to be inserted into the U6 unit. A neat feature of U6 Module of Stardom is that it can accept both PATA (IDE) and SATA hard drives by using the relevant caddy. This particular version is supplied with a PATA Tray for IDE hard drives.
Use numerous disks to rotate your backup
The U6 Swappable external hard drive unit is supplied with a PATA caddy for IDE hard drives. You can add more hard drives, either PATA (also IDE) hard drives, or the newer SATA hard drives, simply by buying the relevant disk caddy. Multiple hard drives, each in their own caddy, can be quickly inserted and removed from the unit.
Flexible usage
Possibilities for the U6 data storage drive are endless and provide a flexible method of portable data storage and backup. For example, each project can be on a new disk, or a daily backup can be saved on one disk and the following day’s backup on another disk. Having only one USB or Fire Wire disk drive connected to your computer, with access to multiple disks, is far neater than using several individual USB or Fire Wire hard drives, each with their own power supply.
Various capacities, all drives supported
Any capacity hard drive is supported with this 'bare' unit. Additional caddies, supporting either IDE/PATA or SATA hard drives can be ordered from us. The U6 takes both these hard drive versions. The caddies will accommodate hard drives from Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Maxtor, Excelstor and others.
Take it anywhere
To connect to the external bay unit, the computer needs to have a USB or FireWire port. Older computers with USB1.1 ports are supported. A universal power supply is included, meaning the U6 drive will work worldwide.
