Pluscom 2.5" IDE/SATA to USB Hard Drive Enclosure
The Pluscom 2.5" IDE/SATA to USB caddy is small, stylish enclosure which supports both SATA and IDE hard drives. So, you can use both types of disk with this versatile hard drive case.
The enclosure is made from a solid aluminium, with plastic ends at both sides. Assembly is very easy. Simply remove one of the clear sides, and slide the circuit board out. Insert either an IDE (PATA) hard drive, or a SATA hard drive into the board, attatch a couple of fixing screws, then slide the unit back together. It will take around 1 minute to assemble a 2.5” hard drive into this disk enclosure.
Backup and store
Once you have a hard drive inside the caddy, you can use it like you would any external hard drive. Connect it to any computer with a USB port (it works with USB1 and USB2.0) and that's about it!
Just supply the hard drive
The 2.5” enclosure comes with everything you need, and also includes a carrying pouch, to protect the enclosure from scratches while you carry it in your bag.
The mobile caddy does not require any mains power to operate, but it does need to be connected directly to a USB port on the computer, not via a hub.
Please check that your hard drive is a 9.5mm hard drive, as this enclosure does not support 12.5mm hard disks.
And finally, please read this!
Before you buy your hard drive enclosure, please check the following:
Is your hard drive a SATA hard drive, or IDE? IDE is also referred to as ATA or PATA. You can find this out by enterning the part number of your hard drive into a search engine. Look at the specifications of the hard drive.
The next thing you need to check is the physical size. Again, in the technical specifications, it will tell you if the drive is a 2.5" or 3.5" hard drive. We refer to 2.5" hard drives as 'Mobile' and the 3.5" hard drives as 'Desktop'. Sometimes we refer to both, for expample a Mobile 2.5" hard drive case. 3.5" hard drive do in fact measure just short of 4 inches (a weird quirk!)
If you are still unsure of the interface or size, please contact us. Send us an email with the model number of the hard drive. We would prefer if you contact us before ordering the wrong product, as it is much easier to supply you the right product the first time! And we're more than happy to help. Thank you.
