2.5" SATA Case to USB with RFID
Storage Depot are pleased to introduce the new 2.5" SATA hard drive to USB2.0 enclosure with RFID.
What is it?
This unique hard drive case houses any capacity 2.5" SATA hard drive. Once the disk drive is installed, the drive is locked until the RFID tag is matched up. The hard drive case has a RFID tag. You keep the other RFID tag on your keyring, in your pocket etc. Pair the two tags, and access to the hard drive is allowed. You can copy, delete, move and view files just like you would an ordinary external hard drive. The hard drive inside the enclosure is encrypted with very secure 128-bit AES encryption. It can only be de-crypted with one of the two supplied RFID tags.
However, as soon as the RFID tag is moved away front the enclosure, the disk locks, and the encrypted data is unavailable until the tag is paired with the enclosure again.

What type of encryption does the hard drive use?
Hardware encryption with radio frequency inductive drive.
What if you lose a RFID tag? Can use use one tag with another enclosure?
There are 2 RFID remote keys enclosed in the packaging, and you need to activate the two keys via the encryption procedure initially. If you lose one, you can still use the other to decrypt the drive case, as long as you have set-up the encryption. If both keys are lost, you will need to contact us to resolve the issue. Tags from other enclosures can't be used.
If you remove the hard drive from the case, it the encryption still there?
If you remove the hard drive from the case, the encryption still there. If you put the same hard drive into another common Enclosure, the information can't be read.
There is a limit to the number of hard drive which may be inserted into the case. Only 6 hard drives can be used in the case, after which no other hard drives will work with the unit.
