Pluscom 3.5" Combo Aluminum Enclosure
The Alu Combo Desktop enclosure is an easy to assemble, stylish 3.5" IDE hard drive enclosure.
The disk enclosure can accept any capacity 3.5" IDE hard drive. It has a fan, which keeps the disk nice and cool. The external auto-switching power supply also helps with cooling.
Simple installation
Assembly is very easy. In fact, even if you have never assembled an external hard disk, you should be confident that this is very simple to do. Making use of an existing hard drive, or buying a new hard drive and fitting it in the enclosure is a cost effective way of getting an external hard drive.
Works on PC and Mac and Linux
Once you have assembled the unit, you now have an external hard drive which can be used on both Window and Mac computers. Linux is also supported. Connection to the computer is very FireWire or USB2.0. There are two FireWire 400 ports, which allows daisy chaining.
The enclosure is made from Aluminium so it wears well. It is sturdy, and well made. Assembly does not require a screwdriver, thanks to the thumbscrews employed.
All in all, a great value low cost external hard drive enclosure suitable for use with most computer and most 3.5” IDE hard drives.

Before you buy your hard drive enclosure, please check the following:
Is your hard drive a SATA hard drive, or IDE? IDE is also referred to as ATA or PATA. You can find this out by enterning the part number of your hard drive into a search engine. Look at the specifications of the hard drive.
The next thing you need to check is the physical size. Again, in the technical specifications, it will tell you if the drive is a 2.5" or 3.5" hard drive. We refer to 2.5" hard drives as 'Mobile' and the 3.5" hard drives as 'Desktop'. Sometimes we refer to both, for expample a Mobile 2.5" hard drive case. 3.5" hard drive do in fact measure just short of 4 inches (a weird quirk!)
