Freecom DataTank 1TB Dual Disk - delisted

The new Freecom DataTank provides 1 TeraByte (1000 GB) of hard drive storage capacity, in a neat, external hard drive. The Freecom DataTank is so easy to use. You simple connect it to your computer (Windows PC or Mac) via the USB or FireWire port, and that's all there is to it! You now have 1000 GigaBytes of disk storage attached to your computer. Quite incredible!
Set it up how you want it
You can set the DataTank up in three ways.

RAID 0. This means that you transfer data via USB or FireWire to the external hard drive, and the data is written to both disks at the same time. The benefit of RAID 0 is the speed with which you can write to the hard drive, and read from the disk. The down side is that if one disk fails, all your data is lost.

RAID 1. This means that the disks are mirrored. This is pretty self explanatory. What's on one disk is immediately copied to the other disk. The most secure way of protecting your data. The downside with this option is that your disk capacity is only 500GB. However, if you have ever lost a hard drive, especially at these huge capacities, then this is a great insurance policy!

JBOD. As with all industries, acronyms abound. Just a Bunch Of Disks. Simply, you have access to both disks, as if you were accessing two separate hard drives. Which you are. This is a nice option if you want to store say your photos on one disk and your music on another. Or, you can backup one computer to one disk and one computer to another. Of course you can arrange your data on the external hard drive in any number of ways.
Strong security
The Freecom Data Tank has some other neat features. You can use the Encryption button to protect data on an encrypted partition on the DataTank, via 128 bit AES standard.
Also, the DataTank has a SYNC button, for synchronizing files between computer and DataTank and vice versa.
