Stardom U6 USB/FireWire 500GB
The Stardom U6 range of external hard drives offer an excellent way of accessing numerous external hard disks, without having to spend a lot of money. The secret behind the concept is very simple. The hard disk is housed in a caddy. The caddy can be removed, and replaced with another hard disk. You can therefore have any number of hard disks, accessible simply by inserting one into the U6 case.
Swapping drives saves files
This particular U6 Swappable external hard drive unit is supplied with a 500GB hard drive plus a caddy. You can add more hard drives, either PATA (also IDE) hard drives, or the newer SATA hard drives, simply by buying the relevant disk caddy.
Flexible usage
Possibilities for the U6 data storage drive are endless and provide a flexible method of portable data storage and backup. For example, each project can be on a new disk, or a daily backup can be saved on one disk and the following day’s backup on another disk. Having only one USB or Fire Wire disk drive connected to your computer, with access to multiple disks, is far neater than using several individual USB or Fire Wire hard drives, each with their own power supply.
Various capacities, all drives supported
The Stardom U6 range is supplied in three capacities of external hard drives. This version comes with a 500GB hard drive. We also have 250GB and 750GB USB2.0 / Fire Wire hard drive versions available.
Additional caddies, supporting either IDE/PATA or SATA hard drives can be ordered from us. The U6 takes both these hard drive versions. The caddies will accommodate hard drives from Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Maxtor, Excelstor and others.
Take it anywhere
To connect to the external bay unit, the computer needs to have a USB or FireWire port. Older computers with USB1.1 ports are supported. A universal power supply is included, meaning the U6 drive will work worldwide. The U6 Combo is one of the few external hard drives to use the Ox911 (Oxford 911) chip, which is not only very fast, but approved for use with many specialist applications, like sound sampling and Digital video programs.
