Synology DiskStation 107
The Synology DiskStation DS-107 is a high powered Network Attached storage device (NAS), which accepts SATA hard drives up to 1TB. Winner of many awards worldwide, the Synology DiskStation is feature rich, yet easy to use and integrates seamlessly on Windows and Apple based networks. With 3 external USB2.0 port and one eSATA port, the DiskStation’s capacity can be increased by adding external USB2.0 or eSATA hard drives.
The DiskStation is supplied without a hard drive installed. It is very easy to install a hard drive, though, and any SATA disk, up to 750GB, may be added. We also sell pre-built systems with hard drives installed, “ready to go” should this be of more interest to you.
The DiskStation 107 has won many awards and is well regarded in the industry. We have put forward the Synology DS-107 to numerous magazines for testing. It won PC Pro Winner Feb 2006; MacUser Labs Winner Nov 2006; and many other awards worldwide.
More recently, Synology Disk Station DS107+ received the "Editor?s Choice" award from CNET.com, the U.S.A.

"The bottom line: The Synology DS107+ is the most sophisticated NAS device we've tested to date. Its more advanced features require some networking know-how, but the included software and Web interface go a long way in helping you tackle the various offerings."
Simple to use central file server
The heart of any NAS device is instant, centralised storage. Once connected, you have an additional, shareable storage system available immediately. The DiskStation lets you share files, keep files private, set up various users, add user groups, set up FTP, set up photo albums and stream music and video.
Print Server
You can connect a USB printer to the DiskStation, which means that you have a ‘network’ printer. This allows you to print from any PC on the network, via the DiskStation.
Backup Server
The DiskStation is supplied with Data Replicator II software, which can be loaded onto each of the networked PC’s, and it will backup, then monitor the PC for any file changes. If a file gets changed, it automatically gets backed up onto the DiskStation. To restore a file, simply copy the file(s) back from the DiskStation.
FTP
The DiskStation has FTP (File Transfer Protocol) functionality, so you and your customers, family, friends, can access common files over the Internet, of you can allow customers to remotely download files from your site. DS107e is designed for Windows users and Mac users to share files seamlessly. Windows users can access DS107e via Samba and FTP, and Mac users via Samba, FTP, and AFP. Unicode support allows sharing files smoothly in different languages.
Host your own website
The DS-107 provides a web hosting space that serves the needs of users who wish to share or advertise their personal or business web pages to people all over the world. The DS107 runs Apache, which supports PHP and MySQL. PHP lets you install open source applications from the Internet, such as blog and bulletin board software.
Share photos via the Photo Station
People who love taking pictures with their digital cameras can now browse and share their favourite photos, videos with their families and friends.
Share music, video and pictures
Using the features of UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) on the Synology Diskstation, you can stream video, look at pictures, and play music that is stored on your DiskStation. You need an appropriate network media player to play/show the music, video and pictures.
Surveillance Station
Make your system into a NVR by connecting IP cameras to the network and record videos to the Synology server. No PC needed.
Sony PS3 Support
Browse multimedia content on the Synology server with your Sony PS3.
Copy facility

Increase Capacity
If you need to back the DiskStation up, or increase the capacity, you can add up to 3 USB hard drives (up to 750GB max) and one eSATA hard drive to the DiskStation.
