USB Floppy Disk (Ignore)
The external USB Floppy Disk is know as a USB Floppy Drive, or even just USB Floppy. USB Floppy disk readers, although now quite old, still sell well due to the huge number of floppy disks in circulation. Floppy Drives are of course essential to read existing floppy disks, and because they connect via the USB Port, USB Floppy drives are still very popular.
Old but good
There are well over a billion floppy disks around. Typically, they may contain old documents or data that you have no other way of getting of. So, the easiest and quickest way of reading your disk is to get a USB Floppy drive. Many manufactures label their own floppy disks drives. Smartdisk floppy disks, IBM, Freecom and many other names, like Teac have USB floppy disk drives. We supply a couple of models. The are inexpensive and reliable for a floppy drive reader.
Memory card vs Floppy disk
Floppy disk drives are totally superseded by USB Card Readers. This is because memory cards, like CF memory cards, SD Memory cards and XD memory cards all have a much higher capacity than Floppy disks, they are much smaller, and also much more reliable. However, the fact still remains that if you have a floppy disk with some data on it, then you need a USB Floppy drive reader to get the info off.
The USB Floppy drive can of course read and write to a 1.44Mb floppy disk.
