USB and FireWire Accessories
There is a host of peripherals that you can add to your computer to improve the basic system. Many of today's accessories are external and need to be plugged into the computer in order to work. Unfortunately, computers usually do not come with as many connections as are needed. Therefore, the easiest way to get more connections, such as USB or FireWire is to add more ports to your computer.
Additional USB Ports
Since every computer is supplied with a USB port, one of the easiest fixes is to add a USB hub to an existing port. Hubs enable you to add additional ports quickly and with ease. There is no installation required. We offer a range of USB Hubs, with and without mains power.
Computer Upgrade Cards
Another way of increasing the number of ports on your computer is via an 'upgrade' card. Upgrade cards add USB2.0, FireWire or SATA support to your computer. Some cards offer combinations, like USB2.0 and FireWire on one card. These accessories are made for desktop or laptop computers and are defined by the slot on the computer which they fit into. On desktop computers the port is called a 'PCI' slot and on laptops a 'CardBus' slot. PCI cards require opening the computer for installation, while CardBus cards simply slot into the CardBus slot on laptops.
