Enclosures & Cases
Apart from the practical function of housing hard drives, hard disk cases can add a considerable degree of aesthetic enjoyment of your computer equipment. We have a variety of very attractive enclosures, differing in model, size, colour, and functionality. The enclosures offer a choice of USB, FireWire or eSATA connections, which enable communication with your computer.
Installing Hard Drive Enclosures
By assembling an existing hard drive, maybe from an old computer or just a spare disk in a hard drive enclosure, you can (for a fraction of the cost of a new product) build a unit which may be too expensive when it is sold with an already assembled hard drive.
Installing a hard drive inside an enclosure is pretty straightforward, but it is recommended that you do not attempt to do so unless you have a basic understanding of computers. Apart from the assembly, the drive will need to be correctly jumpered (set up) and may need to be formatted. If you require a little assistance, we have the required documentation on hand.
External Devices & PC Ports
As is the case with matching ports between the external device and your PC, it is important when buying an enclosure that your hard drive matches the internal connection of the drive enclosure. This connection can be either PATA (ATA) (IDE) or SATA. PATA refers to Parallel ATA hard drives. SATA refers to Serial ATA hard drives.
