Operating System & Platform Support

The target market of Storage Depot is the Windows and Apple Mac computing systems. Bar a few exceptions, all of our products work on both platforms.

Windows & Mac Operating Systems

The Windows operating systems that we support are Windows 98SE (Second Edition), Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Vista support will be added when it ships. Due to the plug and play nature of the products, Vista should support any products that currently work on Windows XP.

Most of our products function under Mac OS10.2.8 and higher. Some older Mac operating systems, such as OS9.2 are also supported. Each product has a list of supported operating systems toward the bottom of the description.

Compatibility of Devices

Customers sometimes enquire about support for a specific make of computer. What is important to understand is that it is not the make of computer that ensures compatibility, but the combination of connection and operating system. For instance, regardless of whether you have a Dell, HP or no name brand computer, as long as Windows is on your computer and it has a USB port, a USB device can be connected.
